Music Program
The Music Ministries
of the Millburn Congregational United Church of Christ offer diverse
music and styles to the church community.
The Adult Choir
is active January through May and September through December. They
sing during the 10:00 a.m. service on the first and third Sundays of
the month. Their rehearsals are scheduled every other Wednesday,
7:15 to 8:15 p.m. and on the Sundays they sang, from 9:15 to 9:45
a.m.
The Millburn Church House Band
is a contemporary mix of voices, drums,
acoustic, electric and bass guitars, sax, flute, and piano. This
group provides music for the 10:00 a.m. services every second and
fourth Sunday of the month from September through May. Rehearsals
take place every other Wednesday beginning at 7:15 p.m.
The Adult Handbell Choir
performs on fifth Sundays and at other special times
during the year. For many years the group performs Christmas music
at the Fox Lake Library. The Handbell Choir also performs with the
Adult Choir and Millburn Church House Band on special occasions.
Practices take place on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The Youth Choir
is a group of second through six graders. They rehearse weekly, from
11:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., except for the first Sunday of the month.
The focus of the music is traditional and fun Christian praise music.
The Cherub Choir
comprises Sunday School children ages three to six. They sing
during the 10:00 a.m. service every 3rd Sunday of the month,
September through May, and at the Christmas Program, on Mother’s Day
and Promotion Sunday.
The Youth Handbell Choir
is open to our youth in 2nd grade and up. We split
into two youth choirs. The first is made up of beginning to
intermediate players and practices on the second, third and fourth
Sundays from 11:15 to 11:45 a.m. The second is the advanced choir.
They practice on the second, third and fourth Sundays from 9:15 to
9:55 a.m. Both choirs participate in the Christmas Program and
perform several times during the year, with the final performance on
Promotion Sunday.
The KUC Handbell Choir
is a group of sixth, seventh and eighth grade young
adults. They practice just a few times on Wednesday, their regular
meeting night. Each year they carol at Sunrise Assisted Living in
Gurnee. They also perform on Confirmation Sunday to honor the
Confirmation Class.
